Audoux Minet

Adrien Audoux (1900-1963) French furniture designer
Frida Minet (1902-1988) Swiss furniture designer

Husband and wife duo Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet opened their rattan chair workshop in Cannes in 1929. They were most interested in using new, readily available materials in their designs. They were members of the Union des Artistes Modernes (UAM), along with noted designers Charlotte Perriand, Francis Jourdain, and Pierre Chareau. The UAM designers were reacting to the tendency of many designers of that era to cater to the wealthy elite, by creating innovative design accessible to the post-war citizenry. Audoux Minet were at their height in the 1940’s and 1950’s during which time they were wrapping oak and beech frame chairs with raffia, and fashioning light fixtures out of rope.
