Guillerme et Chambron

Robert Guillerme (1913 - 1990) French, Furniture/Architectural Designer
Jacques Chambron (1914 - 2001) French, Furniture/Architectural Designer

Robert Guillerme and Jacques Chambron met in 1940, when both were imprisoned in a work camp following the Nazi invasion of France. Each recognized in the other a kindred artistic spirit. Before the war, Guillerme studied at the École Boule, graduating first in his class and Chambron studied at the École Supérieure d’Art et de Design de Reims. Following the war in 1948, they started an interiors and furniture design business in Lille, France, naming it Votre Maison. Shortly thereafter, they met the master cabinet maker Émile Dariosecq and the three worked collaboratively, with design credit accorded to Guillerme and Chambron, while Dariosecq’s workshop produced the furniture. Their designs are characterized by the use of natural materials, such as wood and leather in clean lines and sensible shapes to create functional and appealing pieces.
