(1975-) German Artist

Hamburg-based Thorsten Passfeld primarily works with wood and paint to create wall reliefs, assemblages and sculptural objects. His work explores the domestic motif of furniture, rooms, and household objects with playful takes on tradition. Passfeld studied art and philosophy at the Academy of Fine Arts, Hamburg (Hochschule für bilbende Kunste, Hamburg). His focus was initially on painting but he diversified widely to his work with wood, set design, and music. The two pieces in the STOCK collection were from the work “Play with the Big” originally commissioned by Art Basel Miami.
